One point worth noting though to any merchant who is considering setting up an incentive. Please don’t offer it to the affiliate who generates the most number of sales? Why? Because chances are the prize will go to their top affiliate anyway. They won’t necessarily put in any extra work and as they are already top of the tree the chances are that any new affiliates won’t be in with a chance of beating them.Instead try incentives such as “best new affiliate”, “most improved affiliate” or “largest single commission”. Or why not put the name of every affiliate into the hat who displays the merchants creative on their homepage for a period of say 4 weeks and then pick a winner by random. Or maybe put the names into a hat of all affiliates who generate say a set minimum quantity of sales.
These methods are much fairer and will attract new affiliates to your program.
