Why Are Directories Anti-Affiliates?

Revenews:

Web directories themselves are mere conduits to other destinations on the Internet; so, why should these directories have an issue with affiliate sites that are (much better) conduits to products or services that are useful to its users?

Also, when will these directory owners realize that affiliate marketing is a serious business with the affiliates an indispensable component (in fact, what’s affiliate marketing without these sites willing to promote others’ products?). The discussion about the exact size of this industry could well go on, but I hope the message is clear.

Affiliates deserve much better than some obscure directories telling them that they are not worthy of inclusion.
